  I am sad to have to write this review but feel I should warn others of my experience. I absolutely loved dr. Hutton and the way she handled my son and explained things to me. She wasn't one of those doctors that backed out of the room as you talk to them, she really listened. I also Loved one of her nurses, unfortunately I forget her name, but she was always going above and beyond and great when giving him shots. I liked them both so much I wanted to see past the bad parts of going here but this is just too much. I'd say the most impossible struggle with them has been their inconsistency on when they are actually open and follow up. Their hours of operation depend on if they have patients or not and if they don't and you need to contact them you are SOL. I moved out of state and have been calling for weeks and also submitting online requests for someone to help me with his shot records to no avail. They are closed every time I try despite my careful planning to call during their "normal business hours" i just need shot records and I can't get them (his pediatrician in our new state received confirmation that the paperwork was received By them via fax) and now my son can't start daycare and is behind on his immunizations even though I tried taking care of this WAY ahead of time. This is rediculous and the afterhours service can't help me or leave a message for someone to help me so there has literally been no way for me to get a response. I can't call and leave a message or get a response online. IF YOU MOVE AFTER GOING HERE WALK OUT WITH THE RECORDS IN YOUR HANDS. This was a issue once when I lived there as well. I had to drop off stool samples back to the office and tried several times and they had kept closing early with no warning and my son remained very sick all the while and the samples were too old by the time I was able to finally drop them off and we had to start all over. IF YOU HAVE TO BRING BACK SAMPLES TO THEM I SWEAR MAKE AN APPOINTMENT SO THEY WILL BE OPEN FOR YOU WHEN YOU BRING THEM BACK. I also had an issues once with billing of immunizations that cost me hundreds of dollars and had me leave in tears and broke but they didn't care. MAKE SURE YOU ARE GETTING THE IMMUNIZATION THAT IS COVERED. You have to know the difference yourself and not depend on them. I was fine for months and then randomly it was a issue and it cost me big. make sure you know in advance exactly which one your getting. New moms don't know there isn't just one kind that all kids get. I do like the doctor for sure but that's no good if the office is not open/available and on top of things. They are completely unresponsive at times. Clearly it's not once and while, it's common. If you close early at least have way to get a response eventually. I like their after hours service, that's awesome, but they only dispense medical advice. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend her despite her stellar care because the rest has been a nightmare. Hopefully I can finally get through to someone soon and be done with this.

  I have been bringing my daughter to Dr. Hutton & her capable staff since she was born 5 years ago. I have recently given birth to my 2nd daughter this October and had an opportunity to try a new pediatrician. While I have nothing disappointing to report regarding this other pediatrician, I went back to Dr. Hutton & her staff anyway. It occurred to me that reason why I've stuck with James Island Pediatrics all these years is simply due to the fact that they know me, my daughter & my daughter's history without having to look through files to try and remember. They always make us feel taken care of thanks to their level of commitment & genuine concern whenever we need their services. I have come to consider them a part of my child's life and while I hope we don't need to call them often, I will continue to trust them with my youngest daughter's health as well. My only advice to this business is to keep treating your patients the way you do; with kindness, compassion & respect.

  Dr Hutton has been with our family for last 4.5 yrs. She's great! Unfortunately her desk staff, billing department, office manager are all extremely unprofessional. Distracted, misleading and unresponsive. The office needs to step up their game for Dr Hutton to have a legit representation of her hard work. The least they can do is answer or return phone calls and emails and apologize for mistakes they make. Don't go unless you enjoy months long billing sagas between your insurance company and the doctor's office.
